“tranquility”
This was our fourth visit to this hotel. For complete relaxation in quiet, beautiful surroundings uninterrupted by television, mobile phones and computors we doubt that it could be bettered. The rooms, the ambience, the attentive service all ensure a delightful visit

“Charming, Friendly, Marvelously Atmospheric”
It was well past dark, and we were afraid we would not make it to the hotel where we were staying in time for dinner. So we stopped at the Gwesty Minffordd. It was misty and cold, and this charming little hotel welcomed us like a sparkling jewel of warmth and character.

The owner could not have been friendlier, and we enjoyed chatting with him while we waited for our meal to be prepared. And, we learned so much from him about the history of the hotel and its beautiful location. When we travel, we like to enjoy as much of the uniqueness of a place as possible. Otherwise, what is the point of traveling? So it is experiences such as the one we had at the Gwesty Minffordd that makes a trip so very special. I might add that our meal was delicious, cooked to perfection.

One of the guests staying at the hotel was traveling with her dog, and we were delighted with how accommodating the owner of the Gwesty was. The lady didn’t like leaving her dog alone, and he suggested that instead of taking her after-dinner coffee in the dinning room, that she have it in the lounge where her dog could join her. When we left, we could see the two of them through the large windows. The lady was sitting on the floor, holding a book in one hand and petting her friend with the other.

All in all, we got the impression that the owner could not do too much for his guests. We plan to return to Wales very soon, perhaps next October and shall plan a route that allows us to stay at this wonderful hotel, with its Old-World decor, exposed wooden beams, and friendly owner.

“Good value for money”
This was a short break. The hotel is well placed, in a lovely location to explore the Merionethshire coastline, historic churches and casles or to walk in Coed y Brenin, or have fun on the Great Little Trains of Wales. It is totally unpretentious. Breakfast was excellent. We did not eat at the hotel in the evening, but the food is probably good if the breakfast is

“Great location, cozy, friendly hotel”
Stayed for one night after climbing Cadair Idris. The hotel is 300m from the start of the path. Room was very comfortable, with bath and shower. Bar open as and when required, and the bar meals were to a high standard – we did not sample the restaurant menu. Easy to get to know the other guests in the bar, but there are also two guest lounges.Location, location, location. So much right on the doorstep and set in a beautiful valley. OK, so it’s close to the main road, but we did not notice the traffic when we had gone to bed

“The best place to stay near Cader Idris and Talyllyn.”
Minffordd is a small and cozy hotel that offers great food, friendly, personal service and great accommodation. It is but 100 yards from the start of the path up Cader. Stayed there before and it’s nice to go back to somewhere familiar. I first stayed there with my parents when I was 6

Absolutely fantastic stay – no complaints at all, very clean, friendly – Gordon was really entertaining and attentive. The food was great – the best veggie sausages I have ever tasted! Will definately be coming back!

  2. We had a really good weekend stopping at Gwesty Minffordd Hotel, I would be happy to recommend this. The service was 1st class, our host, Gordon, gave us a friendly welcome and provided excellent knowledge about where to go and what to see. The room was cosy, warm and immaculately clean with a luxurious bed and a varied breakfast menu to look forward to (the full English and the haddock are recommended, food is locally sourced and we had plenty of coffee refills). This is more than the average B&B and is well worth a try. Thank you, what a nice time we had!
